CHICAGO – NEW COVID-19 BUSINESS RESTRICTIONS

Effective for two weeks beginning Friday, October 23rd at 6:00 a.m.:

  • All Non-Essential Businesses must close to the public from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily (“Business Curfew”)
  • Essential Businesses may remain open during Business Curfew if permitted by law
  • Eating Establishments, or those establishments which serve food, including those which serve alcohol for onsite consumption
  • May continue to allow indoor and outdoor consumption of food and alcohol
  • May continue to allow take-out and delivery services until 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Must close to the public at 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Must stop all sales of alcohol for onsite consumption at 9:00 p.m. daily
  • Indoor capacity remains at 40% or 50 people within a room or space
  • Drinking Establishments, or those establishments which serve alcohol for on-site consumption that do not have a Retail Food Establishment License
  • May continue to allow outdoor consumption of alcohol
  • May NOT allow indoor consumption of alcohol at any time
  • Must close to the public at 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Must stop all sales of alcohol for onsite consumption at 9:00 p.m. daily
  • Liquor stores, grocery stores and other Package Goods licensed establishments
  • Must continue to stop all sales of alcohol for offsite consumption at 9:00 pm daily.

The City of Chicago will enforce these new restrictions on businesses, with citations leading to fines of up to $10,000 and closures for those found to have egregious violations.
