ILLINOIS BASSET TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Illinois Liquor Control Act (235 ILCS 5/6-27.1)
The Illinois Liquor Control Act expands the requirements for mandatory alcohol service server training to all Illinois counties, with varying completion dates depending on the population of the county, as further stated below. Beverage Alcohol Sellers/Servers Education & Training (BASSET) is required for on-premises servers, bartenders, and any person who checks age verification as part of their employment duties, including security detail.
- July 1, 2015: Cook County
- July 1, 2016: Counties with 200,000 + persons
(Champaign, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Madison, McHenry, St. Clair, Will, Winnebago)
- July 1, 2017: Counties with 30,000 – 200,000 persons
(Adams, Boone, Bureau, Christian, Clinton, Coles, DeKalb, Effingham, Franklin, Fulton, Grundy, Henry, Jackson, Jefferson, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Logan, Macon, Macoupin, Marion, McDonough, McLean, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Ogle, Peoria, Randolph, Rock Island, Sangamon, Stephenson, Tazewell, Vermilion, Whiteside, Williamson, Woodford)
- July 1, 2018: Counties with 30,000 persons or less

- All training must be completed by the required date or within 120 days after employment, whichever is later.
- BASSET certificates are valid for three years
